     Code of Conduct

City of Clinton Parks and Recreation Department believes that participation in sports programs is an integral part of the developmental experiences for children as well as providing fitness opportunities for adults. Therefore, it expects the highest standards of sportsmanship, integrity and conduct of all individuals that participate in any of the activities, or while participating in the facilities provided by the City of Clinton, as well as visiting other Parks and Recreation Departments.  In particular, the standards are especially stringent for coaches and umpires, who are at once role models, authority figures and representatives of that particular sport.

♦ Lead by example in demonstrating fair play, sportsmanship and self discipline to all players, parents and       spectators.

♦ Use coaching techniques that are age appropriate.

♦ Teach players to play within the spirit of the game according to the rules.

♦ Learn the rules of the game and the policies of the game.

♦ Praise your child for competing fairly and trying hard.

♦ Respect the coaches and officials, their authority during games and refrain from voicing loud, profane or discourteous criticism as a result of a decision made on the field of play.

♦ Support coaches, officials and others working with your child in order to encourage a positive and

enjoyable experience for all.

♦ Do not engage in, permit or promote the use of alcohol, drugs, the use of profanity or other abusive
